Somatic Trauma Resolution - Body Centered Psychotherapy was developed by Sharon Porter. Sharon had studied with the pioneer of "Trauma Healing Work" Dr. Peter Levine, she graduated his Somatic Experiencing Class 12 years ago. Dr. Peter Levine is also the author of Trauma Through A Child’s Eyes, Waking the Tiger, Healing Trauma.

Sharon with her 30 years of as a pioneer in energy medicine and other body centered therapies noticed that Somatic Experiencing would work extremely fast if it was applied to the body. She found the missing link was the Nervous System. The Nervous System is regulated by Trauma. She discovered that if you clear the field in the Nervous System, the Nervous System re regulates itself with resiliency and higher function.

Psychotherapy Session

In a Somatic Trauma Resolution - Body Centered Psychotherapy session with Marina Rose, she teaches her clients how to track their own bodily sensations in a safe manner that the client regulates and controls. This is done in order not to overwhelm the client and allow them to stay in their body. By Marina facilitating and holding that space for her clients, her client’s body is then able to release trauma, which in turn opens the neural pathways that allow safe discharge of trauma from the nervous system. When this discharge occurs the trauma is then transformed into empowerment, some of her clients feel safer to be in their bodies, they feel more grounded, healing is done on all levels. Marina's clients are able to accomplish things in their lives after their session that they never dreamed of being able to do.


What is Trauma?

Trauma is defined as anything that is overwhelming to the nervous system of an individual, so it may include birth trauma for the mother or child, drugs, surgery, accidents, injuries, emotional shock, physical shock, emotional abuse, mental abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and more.
